Ngamo lions Soccer Academy was formed in January 2017 and currently caters for 80 boys aged between 6 and 12, and the aim is now to incorporate boys aged from 13-18 into the system as well as open up opportunities for girls to join the academy programme as girls soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
The main aim is to build kids at a young age to instil and build a love for football, as children get older we aim to produce talented young players who have the technical ability and understanding to play exciting, creative, and attacking football. Most importantly we want the community to benefit, by donating a percentage of funds that is gathered by the selling of player from the academy to professional football teams.
Founded by Vusumzi Ncube in 2017, Vusa grew up in Ngamo village and Bulawayo. Soccer has always been his favourite sport and used to play for small local clubs in the village. He had a dream of becoming a professional soccer player but due to lack of exposure and guidance he was not able to play professionally, and is the reason he came up with the idea of establishing a soccer academy in Ngamo village. To be able to pave a way for young talented kids to be exposed and use their skills professionally.
NLSA became apart of the MMSA banner in 2019, and become the first academy under MMSA.
Remarks from Co-Founder & Chairman "It comes with great pleasure to announce the joining of NLSA to MMSA Academy. After visiting the Academy in 2018, Moses and I both see the great potential in NLSA and believe with the supports of MMSA we will all be able to take NLSA to where it wants to be."
